XX Bienal Internacional de Arte de Cerveira: 40th Anniversary

Marking its 40th anniversary and taking place again in even-numbered years, the XX Cerveira International Art Biennial returns this year, once again marking the national calendar of events from August 10 to September 23, under the theme "Traditional Plastic Arts and Digital Arts - The Discourse of (Dis)order".

Continuing to be structured according to the model that has characterized it throughout a journey that began in 1978, the event includes an international competition, curatorial projects, guest artists, representations from 22 national and foreign Higher Education Institutions, Performances, Artist Residencies, Workshops, Children's Workshops, Conferences and Debates, Guided Tours and Shows.

To mark the fortieth anniversary of what is the oldest art biennial in Portugal and the Iberian Peninsula and an example of resilience to all adversities, a tribute will be paid to Cruzeiro Seixas, one of the greatest exponents of Portuguese surrealism.
